End the summer off on a high note with fun and intriguing events for all of your residents. Start planning now with inspiration from our apartment resident event ideas for August 2021.
Potluck Dinner – Plan a potluck dinner for all of your residents. Encourage residents to submit recipes for the dish they plan to bring or other favorite dishes. Compile the recipes and create a resident cookbook. You can then distribute the cookbook at the potluck dinner.
Bonfire – Organize a bonfire for residents of all ages. Provide the supplies and the ingredients for smores and let residents roast marshmallows on the open fire. Consider hiring entertainment, such as a local band, to put on a show for the residents during the bonfire.
Sunrise Yoga – Give your residents an opportunity to unwind with early morning yoga classes. Hire a local instructor and set up a space in the courtyard or other outdoor area. Be sure to have an indoor space prepared as backup in case the weather doesn’t permit an outdoor event.
August’s “National Day” Celebrations
Every month we highlight “National Days” that make for great apartment resident events and activities. All of these come from the National Day Calendar and are a great reason to have an event or activity for your apartment residents!
National Mahjong Day on August 1st: Mahjong is a popular tile-based game that originated in China in the 1800s. Set up a few stations throughout the common area where residents can sit and play against each other. Be sure to include a set of instructions at each station for those who may not know how to play.
National IPA Day on August 5th: Organize an IPA swap where your residents can bring a case of their favorite IPAs and trade amongst other residents. At the event, you can provide information on local breweries or even invite a local brewer to talk about the history and process of their own IPAs.
National Fajita Day on August 18th: Celebrate this delicious holiday with a make-your-own fajita bar. Provide all of the ingredients, or contact a local Mexican restaurant to cater the event. Residents can come and enjoy good food and good company.
