Summer is finally here! Celebrate the beginning of a new season with fun and exciting events for your residents.  If you need some inspiration, take a look at our top apartment resident event ideas for June 2021.

Pool Party – Take advantage of the summer sun with outdoor activities. If your community has a pool, invite your residents to a fun-filled pool party packed with activities for all ages. These activities can include a water balloon toss, greased watermelon, relay races, and more. You can also provide snacks, drinks, popsicles, maybe even a sundae bar.

Father’s Day Barbeque – Organize a barbeque for your residents to celebrates Father’s Day. Supply food, drinks, and even games for the whole family to enjoy. If your property has a grilling area, encourage residents to barbeque their favorite meals. Residents can put these dishes together and create a potluck for the whole community. Sharing their favorite foods and swapping recipes is a great way for your residents to bond.

Organize a Yard Sale – A change of season brings a change in style. As summer begins, many residents will take some time to sort through their summer wardrobe. As they pull boxes out of the closet, it is likely they will find items that don’t fit or that they no longer want. Give your residents an opportunity to sell these items at an apartment-wide yard sale. When the yard sale is over, give residents the option to donate any of their unsold items. You can collect these items and donate them to a local shelter.

June’s “National Day” Celebrations

Every month we highlight “National Days” that make for great apartment resident events and activities. All of these come from the National Day Calendar and are a great reason to have an event or activity for your apartment residents!
donuts at an apartment resident event in June

National Doughnut Day on June 4th: Set up a doughnut and coffee bar in a common area and encourage residents to stop by before work. You can include doughnuts from different bakeries to promote local businesses. You can also provide residents with easy doughnut recipes they can try on their own.

National Drive-In Movie Day on June 6th: Drive-in movies were a staple of American culture from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s. While you likely don’t have a big empty field for residents to park their cars like a drive-in, you can create a similar experience in a courtyard or large common area. Pick a movie that was popular during the peak of drive-in theaters and project it onto a large sheet. Provide popcorn, candy, and drinks, consider buying sodas in the old-fashioned bottles to give the night a more authentic feel.

National Camera Day on June 29th: Buy a bunch of disposable cameras and place them in baskets near the main exits of your building. Instruct residents to take a camera and snap as many pictures as they want and place the camera back in the basket when they return. You can then develop the photos and display them in a common area for all the residents to see.
